This Orange Chicken is made from Butler Soy Curls and are easy to prepare.
Yield: 3-4 servings
Ingredients
- 1 batch Unflavored Soy Curls
- ¾ cup orange juice/or use water
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 clove, minced garlic
- 1 tsp/.2 oz ginger zest
- 1 Tbsp + 1 tsp cornstarch plus 2 Tbsp water how to use starches
- Scant ½ tsp orange flavoring
- ½ tsp chili paste, optional
- A few drops of toasted sesame oil, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. For easy cleanup, set aside a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In small sauce pan, add orange juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and ginger zest then bring mixture to boil.
- Make the cornstarch slurry and thicken the sauce then remove from heat.
- Add the orange flavoring, chili paste and sesame oil.
- Pour a generous scoop of the orange sauce over the soy curls. Toss to mix until soy curls are well coated, adding more sauce as needed.
- Spread soy curls onto baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, turning a few times for uniform caramelizing. As needed, return soy curls to oven taking care to not let them dry out or burn. Alternatively, these can be done in small batches in an Air Fryer. Set temperature to 400°F and allow 7-10 minutes or until caramelized to your liking.
- Remove the soy curls from the oven and drizzle a bit more sauce over them. Toss to mix.
- Serve with rice and/or stir-fry vegetables.
