Sweet & Sour Sauce

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup water
  • 3 Tbsp cane sugar
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce, use a good quality
  • 2 Tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1½ Tbsp cornstarch plus 1½ Tbsp water

Instructions

  1. In small sauce pan add the water, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar and ketchup. Bring mixture to boil.
  2. Thicken the sauce with a cornstarch slurry. Check this link to learn more about how to use starch as a thickening agent.
  3. Use as a condiment or a dipping sauce for Breaded Chicken Strips or for Sweet and Sour Chicken.
