Kala namak is a violet black salt. In its ground form it has a pink grey color. This salt can be found in most Indian grocery stores or can be purchased on line. It has a pungent sulfur odor and is popular in vegan recipes as it elevates the flavor which makes it reminiscent to hard boiled eggs.
