Simply prepared, spinach is a great food to add extra nutrients to soups, casseroles, lasagna, and dips.
Ingredients
- 1 large container fresh spinach (about 454 g/16 oz)
Instructions
- Pick out any spoiled leaves and give spinach a quick wash and drain well*.
- Put spinach in a steamer basket and cook*.
- When using spinach for lasanga press out excess moisture.
- If desired save cooking water for soups.
Notes
- A salad spinner works well to remove excess water.
- If using Instant Pot set on manual for one minute. When done, release pressure.
- If using stove top, steam until tender.
How to Substitute Fresh for Frozen Spinach
- Metric: 454 g fresh spinach is about 226 g to 285 g frozen.
- Imperial & US System: 16 oz fresh spinach is about 8-10 oz frozen.
