Date paste is tasty way to cut back on processed sugar. It’s easy to make, keeps well in the fridge. It can also be portioned and frozen, for recipes.
Yield: 1 ½ cups
Ingredients
- 1 cup packed, pitted dates (170g/6oz)
- 1 cup water (use water free from chlorine)
Instructions
- Soak dates in water overnight.
- Add dates with water to blender or food processor. Alternatively an immersion blender can be used. Process until smooth.
- Store date paste in air tight container and use within two weeks or freeze.
- Date paste can be used in baking, smoothies and cooked cereals. It’s also delicious in this Chocolate Sauce recipe.
