Date Paste

Date paste is tasty way to cut back on processed sugar. It’s easy to make, keeps well in the fridge and can be frozen.

Yield: 1 ½ cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cup, packed pitted dates (170g/6oz)
  • 1 cup water (use water free from chlorine)

Instructions

  1. Soak dates in water overnight.
  2. Add dates with water to blender or food processor. Alternatively an immersion blender can be used. Process until smooth.
  3. Store date paste in air tight container and use within two weeks.
  4. Date paste can be used in baking, smoothies and cooked cereals. It’s also delicious in this Chocolate Sauce recipe.
